IFPTE, AFSCME Hosts Labor Event in Support of Rep. Andy Kim

IFPTE and AFSCME joined together this week to host an event in support of New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim, who is a candidate for the United States Senate.

The event was held in Washington, DC and was attended by IFPTE Local 196 President/Atlantic Area Vice President, Sean McBride; Local 196 Business Manager, Jimmy Robertello; International Legislative Director, Faraz Khan; International Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee; Ssecretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, and; President, Matt Biggs.

Brother Sean McBride commented on the event:  “IFPTE is proud to be the first union to come out to support Congressman Kim when he announced he was making a run for the Senate.  Congressman Kim is a champion for working families throughout the State of New Jersey.  In fact, he has made our issues his priority each and every day.  IFPTE has supported him since he entered Congress and we know first-hand that he always put workers and the Unions that represent them first throughout his Senate career.”

At the event, Congressman Kim thanked IFPTE and other unions for supporting his pro-worker, pro-labor campaign.  “Some other groups that have supported me in the past feel pressured this time to put machine politics ahead of the interests of their members,” he said.  “I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you have my back.”
