IFPTE Applauds the Launch of the Bipartisan Federal Workforce Caucus and Calls on Members of Congress from Both Sides of the Aisle to Stand Up for America’s Civil Service Workforce

This week, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and Congressman James Walkinshaw (D-VA) launched the Federal Workforce Caucus, a Congressional caucus committed to protecting and strengthening America’s civil service workforce.

IFPTE President Matt Biggs commented, “Our democracy depends on a professional, nonpartisan federal civil service that serves the American public with accountability and integrity. We urgently call on Members of Congress in both chambers and both sides of the aisle to join the Caucus and work to uphold and protect merit system principles, due process protections, and a civil service that ensures that science and innovation, public health, safety, economic security, our national defense, and public services are delivered fairly, efficiently, and effectively."

IFPTE looks forward to working with the Caucus to bring our members’ concerns to Congress and find actionable bipartisan solutions that protect federal workers’ careers, bargaining rights, and merit and due process protections.
