IFPTE Challenges Latest Union-Busting Executive Order in Federal Court
August 28th Executive Order stripped Union rights
from IFPTE-represented NASA members
WASHINGTON, DC – International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) executive officers issued the following statements in relation to IFPTE’s legal challenge to President Trump’s August 28th Union-busting executive order:
President Matt Biggs: “Instead of reversing course on their unprecedented Union-busting, the Trump Administration doubled down on August 28th by unilaterally issuing yet another illegal executive order stripping Union rights from federal workers at several agencies, including NASA, where IFPTE represents approximately 6,000 federal civil servants. This order adds to the Administration’s original March 27th executive order stripping union rights from over one million federal workers, including tens of thousands of IFPTE members. IFPTE, along with other unions, challenged that order as well, and we recently won an injunction from a federal court restoring our members’ union protections. We fully expect a similar decision in this case. IFPTE continues to urge President Trump to rethink these attacks against our nation’s civilian workers and reverse course. We hope he decides against building a legacy as the most prolific Union buster in U.S. history. In the meantime, we will continue to fight for our members and against these illegal orders and will continue to represent our union members as we await the restoration of their legal union rights.”
Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson: “Whether they are scientists, engineers, administrative professionals, lawyers, or researchers, IFPTE members are patriotic Americans who take pride in the services they provide. Make no mistake, behind each one of these workers are their families that depend on their support. It is truly unfortunate that the administration continues its assault on these dedicated public servants who stepped up to serve the American public.”
IFPTE is a labor union representing more than 90,000 workers across North America, including upwards of 30,000 federal workers. You can view the complaint for the IFPTE lawsuit here.
