IFPTE Condemns Senate Budget Reconciliation Bill Proposals to Bust Federal Employee Unions, Harm All Working Americans, and the Public Interest

This week IFPTE weighed in with key Senators against the Senate budget reconciliation bill, particularly the draconian and ideologically-driven language from the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) aimed at eliminating federal labor unions, turning the federal government into an at-will employer, and abrogating the co-equal branch of government constitutional responsibilities of the legislative branch over to the President.

While arguing that several provisions of the Senate bill should be ruled ineligible for inclusion in the bill by the Senate Parliamentarian, IFPTE warned that, “If allowed to stand in this bill, and if they were signed into law, they will radically change the way our government agencies operate and the services that are provided to the American public, including the distribution of Social Security checks, the care provided to our nation’s Veterans, and the healthcare provided to our seniors through Medicare, to name a few.”
