Lewis Engineers and Scientists Association Hosts Career Informational Session for NASA Workers

Lewis Engineers and Scientists Association (LESA/IFPTE Local 28) President, Dr. John Betterson, and Vice President, Samantha Yousef, hosted an information session this week for NASA workers employed at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.

During such uncertain times, when the Trump Administration is attempting to inflict massive cuts to NASA’s science and aeronautics budgets (which IFPTE is working against on Capitol Hill), as well as attempting to strip federal workers of their worker protections, Local 28 is being proactive in providing members and colleagues with information that will help them make the best determinations for continuing their careers.

Dr. Betterson commented on the session, saying, “While we hold out hope that the legislative and legal efforts of our Union to bring better balance to the NASA budget and fairness in the workplace will bring success, our members and colleagues need immediate help and resources to help them navigate their careers moving forward.  Given this difficult political environment, ‘control what we can control’ should be our new motto.  This session is just the start of what Local 28 plans to do in assisting our members who are looking at making career choices.”

Among the participants of the informational session were Cuyahoga Community College and the Polaris Career Center.  Many thanks to Local 28 for providing relief to your members during these uncertain times.
