IFPTE Endorses SPEEA Member David Garrett for State Representative

Garrett “will bring his Union Card with him to Olympia”

WASHINGTON, DC – The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), representing 90,000 workers across North America, including thousands throughout the Puget Sound area in Washington State, is proud to endorse SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001 member, David Garrett, for Washington State Representative.

IFPTE officers commented on the endorsement:

President Matt Biggs: “IFPTE is proud to give our backing to our Union Brother, David Garrett, as he seeks to represent Washington State’s 39th legislative district.  David continues to be a strong Union activist and member within SPEEA, while also having served in countless leadership positions within his Union.  He is a dedicated and proud Union member, and one that IFPTE is honored to call a Union Brother.  There is no doubt that David will bring his Union Card with him to Olympia if he were to get elected.”

Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson: “David Garrett has made his Union background and activism a central part of his campaign to represent the 39th District, something that IFPTE certainly applauds and supports.   Representing his fellow Union siblings in the workplace is not much different than looking for the best interests of constituents he would represent in Olympia.  He is a proven fighter for working families and we are honored to support him.”

Legislative/Political Director Faraz Khan: “David Garrett fully understands the challenges facing working families in Washington State, particularly those right where he lives in the 39th District.  He will combine that understanding with his experience representing workers toward leading and championing legislation that aims to improve the lives of families.  IFPTE is happy to endorse him.”

David Garrett has an impressive career of service to his Union, SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001, having served as SPEEA Area Rep, Council Rep, Northwest Vice President, and participation in key committees such as Tellers, Legislative & Public Affairs, and Organizational Planning.  He promises to act, “in the best interests of residents including providing access to living wage jobs.”
