IFPTE Holds Its Biannual Executive Council Meeting
Secretary Treasurer Gay Henson swearing in Amy Chin-Lai, new vice president for IFPTE Southeast Area.
Members of IFPTE’s executive council met this week for their Fall 2025 meeting.
Some of the major issues addressed were IFPTE’s efforts to combat both the current U.S. federal government shutdown and the Trump Administration’s attacks on workers and unions, the federation’s advocacy for robust investments across North America in clean energy technologies, particularly in industries where IFPTE members are employed, and IFPTE’s organizing targets and goals for next year.
The council also reviewed IFPTE’s budget and funding priorities in the current anti-Union environment in the United States. NPEU/IFPTE Local 70 President, Amy Chin-Lai, was installed, replacing Katie Barrows, who recently stepped down as Southeast Area Vice President.
President Biggs commented that “both Secretary-Treasurer Henson and I value and appreciate the great Solidarity and partnership provided to us from our Executive Council members, and this latest meeting was a continuation of that support.” while Secretary-Treasurer Henson commented that, “it is not only required by our constitution, but critically important that our council meeting twice a year to ensure that our Federation is providing the best representation possible to our members, and to ensure that we remain on solid fiscal footing.”
IFPTE’s next Executive Council meeting will be in May 2026.
