IFPTE Hosts 2024 Legislative Advocacy Conference

Local members and leaders from around the United States attended IFPTE’s annual legislative advocacy conference this week in Washington, DC. 

The Locals that participated in the conference included: SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001, EA/IFPTE Local 1937, GAO Employees Organization/IFPTE Local 1921, IFPTE Local 777, IFPTE Local 561, IFPTE Local 196, IFPTE Local 195, IFPTE Local 194, IFPTE Local 121, IFPTE Local 98, IFPTE Local 97, IFPTE Local 86, NPEU/IFPTE Local 70, IFPTE Local 32, IFPTE Local 30, GESTA/IFPTE Local 29, IFPTE Local 27, IFPTE Local 12, IFPTE Local 8A, IFPTE Local 3, and IFPTE Local 1. 

Congressman Andy Kim (D, NJ), NBC Congressional Correspondent, Julie Tsirkin, and IFPTE Communications Consultant, Jamie Horwitz, were among the presenters.  Legislative Director, Faraz Khan, was the focus of the meeting, reviewing all of IFPTE’s 2024 legislative priorities.  President Matt Biggs commented that the conference “came at an opportune time as Congress was crafting the Federal Aviation Administration and the Water Resources Development Act authorization bills, both of critical importance to IFPTE members.” Secretary-Treasurer Henson noted that “we are proud that IFPTE members from across the nation spanned the Hill to remind lawmakers that their decisions impact the lives of all working families and that they must work together to, at the very least, pass the fundamental legislation necessary to fund our government and ensure that working families’ issues are being addressed.”
