IFPTE Officers Talk Workforce Development and Clean Nuclear Power with White House Officials

IFPTE’s Executive Officers and staff visited the White House this week to discuss IFPTE’s ongoing efforts to engage in and promote workforce development and clean nuclear energy.   The meeting, which was also attended jointly and in partnership with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) staff, was with Senior Adviser to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation, John Podesta.

The discussion centered around IFPTE’s efforts to build on the investments called for in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and bipartisan Infrastructure bill, among others, on workforce development, particularly when it comes to clean energy technologies such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).  IFPTE also joined TVA in support of investments in new technologies and workforce development for the Tennessee Valley Authority, the largest utility in America which is federally owned and operated, and where some 2,500 EA/IFPTE Local 1937 represented workers are employed.

IFPTE President, Matt Biggs, Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, and Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee, along with TVA Vice President for Labor Supply and Relationships, Will Trumm, and Legislative Director, Jessica Hogle, were all in attendance.
