IFPTE Participates in Federal Workforce Union Coalition Lobby Day on Capitol Hill

IFPTE joined members and leaders from dozens of unions on Capitol Hill this week as a part of a Senate lobby day convened by the AFL-CIO focused on urging lawmakers to maintain the bipartisan House-passed NDAA language, sponsored by Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ), that restores Department of Defense (DOD) employee collective bargaining rights into the final Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report and pass the Senate version (S.2837) of the Protect America’s Workforce Act (PAWA) that repeals the illegal executive orders signed by President Trump last year seeking to eliminate union rights from 1.3 million federal workers.

Among the unions that participated in the lobby day for federal union rights were AFGE, NFFE, IAM, NTEU, CWA, IBB, IUPAT, NTEU, USW, and many more, along with AFL-CIO staff and staff from the AFL-CIO's Metal Trades Department, Department of Professional Employees, and the Transportation Trades Department. IFPTE Local 98 President Daniel Kim was also on Capitol Hill this week to talk to Congressional offices and committee staff and joined legislative director Faraz Khan on for several meetings to urge Democratic and Republican Senators to maintain the Norcross amendment in the final NDAA text.
