IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson Attends AFL-CIO Annual Secretary-Treasurer’s Meeting

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, along with Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee, were in attendance this week at the annual AFL-CIO’s Secretary-Treasurers’ meeting in Washington, DC.  The annual meeting is an opportunity for AFL-CIO affiliated Secretary-Treasurers to meet and discuss the major issues impacting working families, as well as to complete internal business matters.

This year’s meeting focused on the labor movement’s efforts to fight against the most extreme Union-busting administration in United States history, and it included a presentation from AFL-CIO deputy organizing director, Christian Sweeney, and IFPTE’s Brian Kildee about implementation of the EDues program for federal Locals across AFL-CIO unions, and the grassroots membership engagement that is required to sign members up electronically.

Secretary-Treasurer Henson commented on the meeting, saying, “this week’s Secretary-Treasurers’ meeting was an opportunity for the Unions of the AFL-CIO to come together in Solidarity and strategize and coordinate our ongoing legal, legislative, and grassroots efforts to resist and beat back the administration’s unprecedented attacks on America’s working families. I truly appreciate AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond's leadership in bringing us together and sharing best practices, particularly during this challenging time.It was a productive and worthwhile meeting to attend.”
