IFPTE Urges Senate to Follow House’s Lead and Pass PAWA as Part of the Appropriations Process
After the successful effort to pass the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act (PAWA) in the House last week, IFPTE turned its sights this week to the United States Senate where the Union urged Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins, and Vice Chair Patty Murray to add the Senate PAWA bill (S.2837) to the remaining Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Senate funding bills. In a letter to the lawmakers, IFPTE noted that as the leaders of the appropriations committee they, “are well situated to put an end to this union busting.”
Later that day, IFPTE contacted Senator Mark Warner’s (D-VA) office to ask him to offer PAWA as an amendment to the “minibus” package of five appropriations bills that the Senate will consider passing in 2026 before government funding expires on January 30. Sen. Warner obliged and IFPTE is working to make sure the amendment to include PAWA in the minibus has a roll call floor vote and has the votes needed to pass next month.
