Society Hosts Info Booth at OPG’s Community Power Expo

The Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160) took part in Ontario Power Generation’s Community Power Expo on Saturday, September 20, hosting information booths at both the Darlington Energy Complex and the Pickering Nuclear site.

The Expo was a free, family-friendly event that invited the community to learn more about power generation and clean energy. Visitors explored interactive exhibits, got a close look at a life-sized CANDU reactor mock-up at Darlington, stepped inside a mock nuclear control room at Pickering, and enjoyed science demonstrations, food trucks, and live entertainment.

At the Society’s booth, attendees learned about the critical role unionized professionals play in building and maintaining Ontario’s energy system. Society President Rebecca Caron and IFPTE staffers Bill Fitzpatrick and Anna Liu were part of a team of Society representatives who answered questions about members’ work and highlighted the importance of strong unions in today’s workplaces.
