SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001 Issues Letter of Solidarity for Hotel Workers on Strike

SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001’s Executive Board issued a letter of support to UNITE HERE Local 8, representing the Hilton workers at Embassy Suites, Seattle, stating, “Your members are skilled and should be valued and share in the profits of their employer as their employer reaps revenue from visitors around the world coming to Seattle for the World Cup.” 

The June 11th letter was sent after UNITE HERE Local 8 members voted by 94% for strike authorization. On June 18, the workers went on strike for a fair contract that improves pay, benefits and working conditions.
