April 14 was International Day of Pink. The Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE 160) is proud to stand up against homophobic, trans-phobic and all kinds of bullying. The International Day of Pink is an international anti-bullying event held annually during the second week of April.

OFL OPEN LETTER: Premier Ford, Minister Elliott & Minister McNaughton – Protect Ontario Workers from COVID-19

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) sent an open letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Minister of Health Christine Elliott, and Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton calling on them to strengthen protections for all workers. The letter was sent with the support of Ontario organizations and unions, including the Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160). Experts around the world–including within Canada–have called for higher levels of worker protection because of aerosol transmission of the virus.

TSSA Engineers Unionize

The Society of United Professionals (IFPTE Local 160) is pleased to announce that 34 engineers from the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) have joined the Society! The campaign started in March with a vote held last week. The vote results were released by the Ontario Labour Relations Board last Friday and a resounding 88% voted yes!
