IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson, along with Marshall Engineers & Scientists Association (MESA/IFPTE Local 27) President, Jared Leggett, were among the many IFPTE members that joined in Solidarity to celebrate and recognize May Day last Friday.

Henson, Leggett, and several Local 27 members joined Alabama’s labor movement in Huntsville, Alabama, while IFPTE Local 21 members joined labor gatherings in the South Bay and San Jose, and Local 98 members rallied in New York City.  IFPTE legislative director, Faraz Khan, also participated by attending the May Day rally in Washington, DC.

May Day is also known as International Worker’s Day and dates back to 1886 when Unions, led by the AFL-CIO, successfully advocated for the eight-hour workday.   See Britannica’s summary of the origin of May Day.
