IFPTE Mourns the Loss of Vonda McDaniel, President of the Central Labor Council of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, AFL-CIO Executive Council Member

Vonda McDaniel

IFPTE is sad to report that our great friend and Union Sister, Vonda McDaniel, passed away unexpectedly last Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee.  McDaniel, who has worked closely with IFPTE over many years, served as the president of the Central Labor Council (CLC) of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, and AFL-CIO vice president.

IFPTE’s executive officers expressed condolences:  President Matt Biggs – “The IFPTE family across North America mourns the loss of our Union Sister, Vonda McDaniel, and sends our deepest condolences to her immediate and Union family.  Sister McDaniel’s contributions to our Labor Movement will live on for many, many years.”; Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson – “Vonda was a true champion for working families across our State of Tennessee, and indeed, across our nation.   She was a transformational force in building coalitions between our labor movement and the faith and civil rights communities toward delivering wins at the bargaining table, through organizing and in the legislative arena for working families.  She has been an incredible friend to me personally, and to IFPTE members overall.  We mourn her passing and send our condolences to her family.”
