Right to Organize - IFPTE Urges House Members to Sign Discharge Petition 19

“Representing more than 30,000 workers covered under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), we urge you to sign Discharge Petition 19 filed by Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ) for H.Res. 1140,” opens  IFPTE’s letter to House Members to move the resolution to provide floor consideration for the Faster Labor Contracts Act, H.R. 5408.

The bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act will help repair a broken process for negotiating first contracts after workers have successfully voted to form a union in the private sector.  Sadly, too many workers’ experiences in organizing and bargaining first contracts, including IFPTE members, show the urgency need in this petition because  America’s existing private sector labor laws under the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) do not effectively prohibit employers from using a variety of delaying tactics throughout the union election and negotiation process.
