Union leaders from across the state of Washington, including IFPTE Local 12 President Tiera Beauchamp, gathered in Solidarity this week in Vancouver, Washington, at the Washington State AFL-CIO’s 2025 Convention. The Convention theme was Our Voice, Our Power, Our Movement, and included several workshops ranging from how to build strong Union-driven campaigns to legislative advocacy to organizing.
IFPTE is proud to report that Tiera Beachamp, who is the longtime President of Local 12 representing workers at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, was a featured speaker on a panel entitled, “Fighting for the Right to Organize and Collectively Bargain.” Tiera was asked to participate in sharing her work in continuing to build up Local 12’s membership in the face of Executive Orders from the Administration stripping DOD workers of their collective bargaining rights.
Tiera commented: “It was an honor to have the opportunity to represent our workforce and to voice the struggles we have encountered during these times. The message was received and appreciated by the body of the convention, as many were not aware of the challenges of the federal locals and our workforce. As our Local continues to advocate and organize, it is paramount that we continue to build a strong foundation of solidarity within the labor movement. I’m grateful to have support from our brothers and sisters in the state labor council, standing in solidarity for our members.”
Tiera graduated from the Washington State AFL-CIO’s Path to Power program and has addressed Unions across the State, including the ILWU Local 19, to build up support for federal workers.
