Local 70 President, Amy Chin-Lai, Honored by Metropolitan Washington AFL-CIO 

Non-Profit Employees Union (NPEU/IFPTE Local 70) President, Amy Chin-Lai, was honored on Saturday by the Metropolitan Washington Labor Council at their 40th Annual Evening With Labor Awards Dinner.  Amy, who has established herself and her Local as one of the top organizing Unions in IFPTE, and the larger labor movement overall, received the Emerging Leaders Award for her extraordinary dedication to NPEU, IFPTE, and to working families.  

Among other awardees was AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, who received the Vanguard Award.  Along with Amy were several members of the NPEU board, including Vice President Sarah Rawlings, IFPTE International President Matt Biggs, and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson. Amy Chin-Lai is the President of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union, IFPTE Local 70, which represents thousands of nonprofit workers at more than 50 organizations in DC and nationwide. A fourth-generation Chinese-American, she carries forward her family's resilience through her work empowering other member leaders and advocating for dignity, equity, and fair pay. Amy was recently honored by the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, winning their inaugural Emerging Leader award. She is proud to be part of a movement and union that amplifies the voices of marginalized people in the workplace.
