Manitoba Workers Continue to Face Canada's Highest Injury Rate
For the third year in a row, Manitoba has the highest workplace injury rate in Canada. According to the Manitoba Federation of Labour (MFL)—of which TEAM/IFPTE Local 161 and WAPSO/IFPTE Local 162 are affiliates—the province’s 2025 time-loss injury rate was 25% higher than any other province and more than 60% above the national average. MFL President Kevin Rebeck is calling for an independent review of the Workers Compensation Board’s injury prevention system, saying, “Manitoba workers deserve better than last place.”
