New SFL President Calls Out Government for Overlooking Workers
Newly elected Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) President Marilynne MacFarlane wasted little time making her voice heard, calling out the provincial government for its failure to address workers' rights and workplace protections in its October 27 Throne Speech, just days after assuming her new role.
MacFarlane is calling for concrete action on key labour issues, including a ban on replacement workers during strikes and the introduction of card-check certification, which would make it easier for workers to exercise their right to unionize.
The SFL represents more than 100,000 workers across Saskatchewan, with the Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160), among its affiliated unions.
