Canada's Unions Push Back on Proposed Strike Restrictions

Canada’s unions are united in opposition to proposed changes to the Canada Labour Code that would give the federal government broad new powers to end legal strikes in the “national interest.” While the legislation includes several measures welcomed by labour - including protections against contract flipping and wage theft - the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) says the proposed restrictions on the right to strike would fundamentally weaken collective bargaining.
