IFPTE Joins SUP/Local 160 Rally to Support Hydro One Members
The Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160) Hydro One Local held a rally on Monday at Trinity Square in Toronto. IFPTE President Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson joined members on the ground, demanding a fair contract and reaffirming the International’s full support.
More than 2,100 Local 160 members at Hydro One have been without a collective agreement since October 1, 2025. After five months at the bargaining table, the employer has still not presented an offer that reflects the vital contributions of Society members who maintain, operate, and safeguard the reliability of Ontario’s electricity system.
Leaders and members from across Local 160 gathered at Trinity Square Park—just steps away from Hydro One’s corporate headquarters—to send a unified message: Society members deserve fairness, respect, and wages that keep pace with industry standards. They were joined by allies from the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress, whose support underscored that the struggle for a fair deal at Hydro One is part of a broader movement to protect workers’ rights and strengthen labour standards across Ontario and Canada.
