SOLIDARITY ALERT: Local 12 President, Tiera Beauchamp, Addresses ILWU Local 19 Members, Gains Letter of Support for Federal Workers
Local 12 President, Tiera Beauchamp, who recently completed the Washington State AFL-CIO’s Path to Power program, spoke last month to the members of the International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU) Local 19 about the fight that federal workers represented by Local 12 and across the nation are facing.
Tiera commented on the event, saying, “I was honored to be invited as a guest speaker, along with the Bremerton Metal Trades Council president, and provide the ILWU membership with a summary of the attacks we are facing as federal workers, and also hear about some of the struggles that they have faced as a Union. We had great feedback in Solidarity from the members, as well as from the ILWU International President, who was also in attendance, and I am thankful for the letter of support ILWU provided to us. I will be meeting with the Washington Education Association at the end of this month and organizing with the state labor council shortly. We have to keep fighting!”
