IFPTE NASA Locals Come to Washington – Fight to Save NASA Funding, Unions

Several IFPTE NASA Locals were in Washington, DC, this week to meet with congressional lawmakers, particularly appropriators.  During the meetings, IFPTE discussed legislative items urging lawmakers to reject the Trump Administration’s budget request to cut NASA’s overall budget by 25%, with a whopping 48% cut to NASA science work and another 39% cut to aeronautics research.

Trump Administration’s Firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics Head Won’t Alter the Reality that Workers Face

IFPTE executive officers commented on President Trump’s firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after BLS released its Employment Situation Report for July. The report indicated the unemployment rate rose to 4.2% and the total number of workers in the U.S. economy, excluding farm labor, has remained flat since April 2025.
